Removal of existing running track and sports field and addition of a new 400-meter synthetic running track and new all-weather sports field to meet CIF regulations. Project also includes installation of new long jump, triple jump, high jump and pole vault runways, and a new scoreboard.
Poly's auditorium renovation includes seismic retrofitting, new elevators, new public restrooms, stage lighting, audio, heating and air conditioning, fire alarms, sprinklers and stadium seating. After the auditorium was damaged in the 1933 Long Beach earthquake, the building was modernized in the WPA Moderne style, incorporating Streamline Moderne and Art Deco elements. Designers of the refurbished Poly auditorium preserved or replicated many of the historical features, working with Long Beach Heritage.
