About the COC

The Citizens' Oversight Committee (COC) plays a vital role in ensuring transparency and accountability in the Long Beach Unified School District's (LBUSD) use of school bond funds. Comprised of seven members appointed by the LBUSD's Board of Education, the COC diligently reviews and reports on school bond expenditures.

Each COC member represents a distinct segment of the community, including senior citizens, parents, businesses, or taxpayers. With a commitment to serving a maximum of three, two-year terms, COC members bring diverse perspectives and expertise to their oversight responsibilities.
